Myers Carpet Company was the first and remains the oldest carpet store in Dalton, Georgia, "The Carpet Capital of the World." The company was founded in 1957 by Gene Myers, who started buying scraps of carpet from local mills and reworking them into stair treads and small rugs which he then sold through area chenille stores on "Peacock Alley" on Georgia Highway 41. Gene Myers, with the help of his wife Evelyn, and later sons Rick and Ray, opened Dalton's first carpet store and began offering carpet from Dalton's local mills. Patcraft was first. Later, Art Black, founder of Evans and Black Carpet of Arlington, Texas, gave Myers his first line. Gene Myers passed away in 1981 at age 53 and the company was then managed by sons, Rick and Ray Myers. In 1987, Myers Carpet opened a 3000 square-foot showroom on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. Six years later they purchased and moved into a 35,000 square-foot showroom and warehouse at 1500 Northside Drive. That location quickly became the flagship store for Myers. In 1998, Myers Flooring was opened in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by the purchase in 2001 of the showroom and warehouse of Division Street Carpets at 641 Division Street in downtown Nashville. Myers Flooring of Nashville then purchased the assets of Van Gilmore's Nashville Carpet Center in 2016 and combined the two businesses and employees at our current location at 2919 Sidco Drive in Nashville.
Today, Myers consists of Myers Flooring of Dalton, Myers Flooring of Atlanta, one of the largest floor covering stores in Atlanta, and Myers Flooring of Nashville, Nashville's largest floor covering retail store. With the purchase of Nashville Carpet Center, Myers has about 90 employees and numerous teams of installers that depend on Myers for installation work. The management team is made up of Ray and Rick Myers, owners, Krista Pharr, Controller, Chris Fonville, the Myers Flooring of Atlanta Manager, and Doug Peeples, the Myers Flooring of Nashville Manager. As Myers continues to sell products from Shaw, Mohawk, Dixie Group, and Engineered Floor, Myers has expanded over the years into selling high-end carpet and area rugs, many of which are constructed of wool or natural fibers. Myers has become the largest wool carpeting retailer in the Southeast and one of the major natural fiber retailers in the country. One of the keys to their success is that all three locations have custom rug workrooms where they cut, serge, bind, and create customized area rugs and room-sized rugs.

“Well, for 63 years now, this July, our goal has always been to be the best carpet retailer we know how to be. We have, what I now think is, the best carpet retailer business in Atlanta, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee. With our 90 employees, we only strive to get better and better.” - Rick Myers, Myers Flooring President
“We have talked in the past about expanding. We have 3 stores now and we think there are markets in other cities that our formula of high-end products would work very easily. There are no definite plans right now to do that, but we always leave it open. It’s something that could happen in the future." - Rick Myers, Myers Flooring President
